Blooming in the Shadow

This artwork explores the relationship between fullness and emptiness through the use of positive and negative space. The flower and leaf shapes were cut out from a black square paper, creating empty spaces within the dark surface. When the cut paper is placed against a white background, the empty areas become visible and transform into blooming flowers.
The piece shows how absence can create presence. What is removed from the black paper becomes the most important part of the composition. The contrast between black and white allows the flowers to appear clearly, as if they are blooming from the shadow. Through this balance of filled and empty space, the artwork celebrates the beauty that can emerge from what is missing.
